It has been quite a while since my last post, but that doesn’t mean we stopped learning. So my next few posts will fill you in on some of the projects we’ve done.
Since she was at least a year old if not earlier, Little has been pointing at the moon. With a wide smile on her face and pure enchantment in her voice she’d say, “Moon up high!” It was only fitting that I follow her lead by making the moon more accessible to her. So, I replicated the night sky. I started simple with just the moon and stars. As she gets older we’ll add more.
Mesmerized!
Our exploration of the night sky included the planets.
I added pictures of the moon phases to the reading corner in her room.
Moon Phase matching
This was easy to do and her response was so cute. For a while she’d say full moon when she looked up at the moon, but a few nights ago while outside she pointed to the moon and said, “Asking Gibbus”. I exploded, “Waxing Gibbus? Waxing Gibbus? Yes, Waxing Gibbus!!” What a magnificent thrill!
