Sunflower Life Cycle

Ciclo girasol

Lately we have been learning about the  bean life cycle, and now is the turn of the sunflower life cycle. This plant is also a great choice to study the life cycle because, same as the bean, has very characteristic large seeds, which are easy to recognize, it’s very easy to take care of, it grows fast and the kids love it when the sunflower blooms.

This time I presented the “lesson” in the same way I did with the bean; we had a look at the photos we took on the day we planted the seeds, and then the photos that you see above, to remember visually how the plant had grown. We then got the sunflower and took it to the tray I had prepared with a sunflower seed for comparison.

Our sunflower was in a small flowerpot so the seeds it grew were smaller than the original one, but Alejandro understood they were the same but smaller, he even explained to me that they were smaller because they were still babies… 🙂 We will definitely do this again in a bigger plantpot so we can get a big nice sunflower.
